School Outreach

We currently offer the following workshops for school outreach:

Healthy Body Bits – suitable for P1-P4

With the help of Stuffee – a giant ragdoll with removable organs – learners will explore our major organs, what they do and how to keep them healthy.

Our World From Space; Satellites , Climate Change, and Infra-Red – suitable for P5-P7 & S1-S4

This workshop explores the relevance of UK space science for the future health and sustainability of our home planet. After an introduction to satellites and this session discusses how infra-red cameras and satellite imaging can assist with data analysis related to climate change.

We offer a number of  a number of experiments, make and take activities, engagement pieces, and STEM toys that can be delivered as part of a non-workshop outreach. Our demonstrations range anywhere from a couple of minutes to 10 minutes depending on which experiments are requested, and we can group experiments together to provide a longer engagement if necessary. Our make and take activities take around 10 minutes on average, but depending on the level of children engaging this can range from 5-15 minutes. Workshops

Each workshop is 30 minutes long, and we can accommodate up to one class, or 33 pupils, per session.

For school workshop outreaches, a minimum booking of half a day (4 x 30 minute sessions, 100 children minimum) is required, however we also offer a full day, with a minimum booking of 8 x 30 minutes session, and 200 children minimum. Our maximum capacity is 10 x 30 minute sessions, for up to 300 children.

For 2024 we have reduced our usual school workshop outreach costs, with a half day outreach now only costing £250 and a full day costing £500. Depending on the location of you school and SIMD index of your location there may be funding to assistance with costs – please see the funding page for more information.
