Join Us for a Hands-On Craft & Play Activity: Sun-Printed Cyanotypes with Anna Rooney
A free hands-on creative workshop will take place at Dundee Science Centre on Saturday 13 June as part of the Dundee Play Festival, inviting visitors to explore a historic, sun-powered printing technique known as cyanotype.
Local artist Anna Rooney will lead the session, guiding visitors through the process of creating botanical prints using sunlight and UV-sensitive materials. Attendees will learn how to arrange plants and drawings onto specially prepared surfaces, which then react when exposed to natural light. After rinsing, the designs emerge as distinctive blue-toned prints.
The drop-in activity is designed to be accessible to all ages and encourages experimentation with natural forms and simple photographic chemistry, without the need for cameras or specialist equipment.
Location: Our garden or inside our Prism space (weather dependent)
Date: Saturday, 13 June
Time: 10 am – 4 pm
Cost/booking: This workshop is FREE and does not require pre-booking. However, if you wish to visit our exhibitions, you must purchase pre-booked tickets.
