Join us at Dundee Science Centre for some space-tacular fun this Summer as we present ‘Our World From Space’.
From Friday 28th June – Sunday 11th August, we’ll be exploring the crucial role space and satellites play in our everyday lives, helping us to learn more about the earth and look after its biodiversity, climate and oceans from above.
In addition to our fantastic exhibitions, there will be of out-of-this-world activities for all ages to enjoy!
Meet the Satellites: Get up close with the satellites that observe planet Earth from space with our 3D printed models. You’ll learn about the jobs they do and how they support climate action around the world. Why not take part in our game to guess how far away they are from our model Earth – the answers may surprise you!
Design Your Own Satellite: Take on our engineering challenge and design your own satellite to take home. What problem will your satellite help to solve?
Satellite Explorers: Unlike you and me, satellites can see more than just visible light. In this activity, you can experience the world around you like a satellite and learn more about the electromagnetic spectrum (different types of light), including getting to take some selfies on our infrared cameras!
Penguin Poo From Space: Did you know that satellites can spot penguins from space from the poo stains they leave behind on the Antarctic ice? See if you can help us spot where the penguin colonies are, just like animal conservation researchers do with similar satellite data.
Play Space: Get creative in our Play Space building your own rocket or space station. Dress up as an astronaut ready for your mission, or as a rocket and travel through the solar system. This imaginative learning zone is open for all ages.
Rocket Launching: We’ll cover the basics of getting objects into space and give you a go at getting your own mini rockets off the ground. Suitable for all ages!
