Science Communication courses
Our Science Communication courses and projects are designed to help STEM students and professionals to gain skills, confidence and inspiration in public engagement with science.
We offer both half-day introductory courses and the in-depth Create and Inspire three-month professional development programme (further details below).
Our courses are available on request for colleges, universities or companies; please contact Rebecca Erskine on 01382 868606 or to discuss your needs.
Create and Inspire
Create and Inspire is a training and mentoring programme specially designed to give you the confidence, skills and experience for public engagement. Let Dundee Science Centre support you through a structured and supportive experience.
In this course, you will be immersed in the science centre for a day, discovering our ideas, methods and philosophy. We shall share our techniques and support you to develop science communication activities, which you’ll then deliver in the science centre to engage public and school visitors with your STEM career and research.
Create and Inspire is a three-month experience, designed to be carried out alongside your work commitments, and includes:
- training day
- support and mentoring from science centre staff
- public engagement practice session with our expert science communicators and a community group
- delivery of your activities at ‘Science in the City’ meet-the-scientist days at Dundee Science Centre
- evaluation session
- opportunities for future public engagement activity, beyond completion of the programme
Three month professional public engagement experience: £450 + VAT (including £50 materials allowance)
